How to join Kurana Conclave

Kurana Conclave # 11 is located on the Mornington Peninsula and meets at the Mornington Masonic Centre on the second Wednesday, March, April, July, September, November at 7.30 pm. T

he Installation is held in March commencing at 6.30 p.m.
It is often said that a real strength of the Order of the Secret Monitor is the care that we take of our members. A feature of a Conclave is that we appoint four Visiting Deacons who maintain constant contact with our members - not a meeting goes by without each member receiving a call from a 'Visiting Deacon'.
Meetings that Inspire and Instruct
We try to make all our meetings special. From the ceremonial work in the Conclave through to the Festive Board our aim is to make each meeting a meaningful experience.
Our Meetings are far more than the ceremony in the Conclave, they inspire and instruct us about who and what we are.
As a Secret Monitor we learn lessons that pre-date the building of King Solomon’s Temple.
Kurana Conclave Meets on the second Wednesday (odd months from March - no January meeting). Our Installation Ceremony is held on the second Wednesday of March each year with a 6.30 p.m. start.
Friendship
The fundamental tenet of our Order is FRIENDSHIP. Peculiar to the OSM is the appointment of Officers called Visiting Deacons (there are four in each Conclave), whose job it is between meetings to contact the members and make sure they are fit and well and have no problems they need help with. The Deacons are required to report at each Conclave meeting on the status of each member, so that any action which needs to be taken to relieve distress of any kind, can be taken
The OSM is an Order well worth belonging to. It makes little demand on either the time or the pocket, at least until senior ranks are reached and it brings home the Biblical lessons of love, friendship and caring for each other which are endemic to this wonderful Order.
We do hope you will give consideration to joining the OSM and look forward to welcoming you.
Within Craft Freemasonry we are taught, at an early stage, that it has for its Principles, ‘Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth’. In no other Order in Freemasonry, than that of The Order of the Secret Monitor, can there be found a greater emphasis on those fundamental Masonic Virtues, for the teaching of those Principles
Social Functions
Making connections and building community is one of our prime aims. We take pride in who and what we are ‘Secret Monitors’ worthy Master Masons who have taken the step of becoming part of the Order of the Secret Monitor.
Our social functions play an important part of building community and introducing new men into our fraternity. Family and friends meeting together and enjoying each others company.
About the Order of the Secret Monitor
The Brotherhood of David and Jonathan or the Order of the Secret Monitor as it is more commonly known, is one of the hidden secrets in Freemasonry. many Masons have little or no idea of the Order of the Secret Monitor.
To those of you who are existing members of this delightful Order of Freemasonry, I know you are already in possession of the highly rewarding attributes it offers to all its members.
Interestingly enough the only qualification required to be proposed into a Conclave of the Order is that of Master Mason. As with many factors in Freemasonry, the ceremonies typically surround a story or legend and this Order is based upon the remarkable Friendship which existed between David and Jonathan. (As can be found in the Bible I Samuel XX.)
There are three distinct degrees to the Order of the Secret Monitor.
Secret Monitor First Degree - During the Induction Ceremony the story unfolds recalling the Friendship that developed between David and Jonathan and the wonderful lessons to be learned in friendship, support and fidelity.
Secret Monitor Prince Second Degree - Admission into an Assembly of Princes is also derived from the Book of Samuel and recalls how Saul sought to destroy David and relates the interesting legend of the methods contrived to foil the pursuits of the jealous King.
Secret Monitor Supreme Ruler Third Degree - This last degree concerns the Installation to the headship of a Conclave and surrounds David’s Kingship. Within the ritual of this degree there is a ceremony of Commissioning, which permits rank and status throughout the Order as a whole, furthermore, a certificate is issued to confirm the Officer is Commissioned, both of which are quite unique in Freemasonry.
Not every Masonic Degree is founded on a scriptural bases but the Order of the Secret Monitor is surely one. The Order closely follows the writings of the Book of Samuel, Chapter Twenty, and tells of the unselfish devotion between David and Jonathan. This friendship forms the basis for the ritual and precepts of the degree with friendship being the predominate teaching of the Order and led to the secondary part of the Orders title: “The Brotherhood of David and Jonathan”.
This friendship is reinforced within each Conclave by the office of the Visiting Deacons who are charged to maintain close contact with those placed under their care.
