The Order of the Amaranth in Australia

The Grand Court of New South Wales Order of the Amaranth Inc.

Courts are in New South Wales and Victoria

There are also Courts in Queensland under the jurisdiction of the Grand Court of Queensland

Growing the Order

Working as a team:

The Grand Court Advancement Committee of the Grand Court of New South Wales is charged with the responsibility of providing leadership and resources for the advancement of the Order in gaining new members and of the oversight of opening new Courts. Team work is an essential element of this activity and to achieve this at the start of each Amaranth year the incoming Grand Royal Matron decides on her appointments to this Committee of Grand Court. The structure currently in place is that we have a Chair, a Co-Chair District Co-Ordinators for New South Wales and State Co-Ordinators for Victoria, Western Australia and Tasmania. (These positions are appointed not elected)..Of course it is expected that any member duly appointed by the Grand Royal Matron or in the case of past Grand Royal Matrons appointed by Supreme to a particular State or region within our Grand Court Jurisdiction would endeavour to assist. When a New Court Steering Committee is formed an experienced member is recommended by the Advancement Committee and appointed as Chair. (This position is appointed not elected). A New Court Handbook from Supreme Council along with Guidance Notes from the Grand Court Advancement Committee are made available to any member and/or Court wishing to become involved in this important activity. For the sake of regularity the appointed Chair of the New Court Steering Committee is expected to furnish periodic progress reports to the Chair of the Advancement Committee. We have a great opportunity to extend our Order and the Grand Court Advancement Committee stands ready to assist you.

Planning for a New Court in Tasmania:

An Historic Day in the Life of Amaranth

Saturday September the 29th was an historic day in the life of Amaranth when members of Endeavour Court # 2 from Mornington Victoria, the Grand Royal Matron and Grand Royal Patron and members from New South Wales and South Australia converged by air and sea on the Glenorchy Masonic Centre Hobart to induct a number of Tasmanians into the Order followed by an Information Meeting and Dinner that evening.

We congratulate our new Honoured Ladies and Sir Knights who have now joined a growing number of Amaranth members in Tasmania who are working toward the Organising and Constituting of a New Court.

A New Court in Tasmania has been on the Advancement agenda for well over ten years since H.L. Ellen Hutt, Grand Royal Matron 1995 -96 forwarded an enquiry she had received from a Queensland Amaranth member who had moved to Launceston to the now late H.L. Joan Foran, PSRM and Chair of the Grand Court Advancement Committee. H.L. Joan visited Tasmania meeting with those who had expressed interest. We are indebted to H.L. Joan and others of a more recent date who have kept the dream of opening a new Court in Tasmania alive. We anticipate that the new Court will be opened late 2008.

Keep up the good work in Tasmania as you work together in bringing others into our midst.
